The Social Security Administration offers over 200 electronic publications, a retirement planner, and other helpful resources to help you find more information
about your Social Security retirement benefits and how they will affect your retirement plans. Contact the SSA to:
- Apply for Social Security Retirement, Spouse's or Disability benefits online
- Apply for a new Social Security Card due to a name change
- Apply for a Social Security Card for your new child
- Change your address if you have moved and you are receiving Social Security benefits
- Visit the SSA online for information and most transactions or, if you prefer, call toll-free, 1-800-772-1213.
From a Social Security benefits standpoint, you can retire at any time between age 62 and full retirement age (70).
However, if you start benefits early, your benefits are reduced a fraction of a percent for each month before your full retirement age.
